While having children is a beautiful, life-changing experience, it also produces many dramatic changes to the body. Some of these changes can be naturally reversed once the baby is born while others will linger indefinitely. Sagging, as well as a deflated shape of the breasts, can affect a woman's appearance and self-esteem. Dr. Fisher has three children and personally understands the toll that childbirth and nursing can take on the body and the breasts. She will work with you to reverse the changes and restore your youthful, pre-baby body as closely as possible.

MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE IN BREAST IMPLANTS

The aim is to produce a result that is naturally attractive while adding curves according to the patient's specifications. That understanding, coupled with Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire's years of extensive experience working with a range of modern implants on a variety of body types, provides the foundation for safe, personalized, and long-lasting results.

YOUR SURGERY EXPERIENCE

The breast augmentation consists of a series of steps that work together to produce the beautiful outcome you want:

YOUR CONSULTATION

Every breast augmentation starts with a thorough consultation. Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire will use this time to get to know you, your body and your goals. This appointment is the ideal time to ask any questions you may have about breast augmentation, and together you will develop a safe plan to deliver your desired results. The consultation also involves a physical examination, at which time she will take breast measurements and assess your current breast tissue. You will receive a free quote the day of the consultation.

Our practice is run entirely by women, ensuring all our breast patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns and undergoing the entire surgical process. We feature a warm, reassuring environment that puts our patients at ease. If you are unsure as you begin the process, Dr. Fisher, Dr. Ehanire, and her team will guide you every step of the way.

The breast augmentation consists of a series of steps that work together to produce the beautiful outcome you want:

BREAST IMPLANT SELECTION

Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire work directly with each patient to select the best breast implant type to obtain your desired results. Most of their patients choose silicone breast implants, which are filled with a gel that mimics natural breast tissue. These FDA-approved implants are medically safe and have a more natural look and feel, which is why we often recommends them. Choosing the right breast implant is a very personal decision, and our surgeons will discuss in detail the benefits and drawbacks of silicone versus saline implants during your initial consultation.

Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire will draw on their expertise as board-certified plastic and reconstructive breast surgeons to help guide you to the correct implant for your breast augmentation goals, your figure and your lifestyle.

OTHER AUGMENTATION CHOICES

In addition to choosing the implant type, you will have a choice of size, shape and profile. A range of sizes allows Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire to create a proportionate look for your body. Implants also come in both round and teardrop shapes. Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire will listen to you and help you choose the best look for you based on the results you hope to achieve. An important factor is the cosmetic breast profile that you hope to achieve, such as how far the breast will project from the chest wall. Selecting a profile is a decision that should be based on your specific body contour and desired outcome to ensure the most natural results possible.

THE DAY OF YOUR BREAST

AUGMENTATION SURGERY

A board-certified anesthesiologist will administer the general anesthesia needed for breast augmentation surgery that will ensure you are comfortably asleep throughout your procedure. Most patients are candidates for a hidden-scar technique in which our surgeon places a small incision in the crease beneath your breast, also called the inframammary fold, where the thin scar will be easily hidden by the natural fold or your breast or a bra. This incision placement minimizes the chance of capsular contracture, a painful complication caused by constricted scar tissue. It also lessens the likelihood of loss of nipple sensitivity after surgery.

Once the incision is made, our surgeons insert the chosen implant into a dual-plane position with the tip of the implant underneath your pectoralis muscle and the lower portion of the implant under your breast gland. This placement offers a natural slope to the upper breast and limits rippling and visibility of the implant edges within the breast tissue, which is why Dr. Fisher prefers this technique for nearly all her breast augmentation surgeries. we also can inject a local anesthetic around the surgery site for your comfort, which helps to block pain for five to seven days after your surgery.

Your breast augmentation will take approximately one hour, and you will be able to go home the same day. However, since you will have general anesthesia for your surgery, you will need to have someone drive you home and preferably remain with you for the first 24 to 48 hours as you begin the recovery process.

REFINING THE PROCESS

Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire’s extensive experience in breast procedures has allowed them to hone their surgical processes to accommodate patients who want to minimize their recovery time. They use precise, delicate surgical techniques during their breast augmentation procedures to minimize stress on the tissues and bleeding at the surgical points. This careful handling of tissues also eliminates the need for drains after surgery, further shortening and enhancing the recovery experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM RECOVERY

Following your surgery, you can expect to spend one to two hours recovery on-site, after which you will return home to rest and recuperate surrounded by your familiar comforts. We will provide you with a front-closing surgical bra, which you will be advised to wear for about two weeks. This garment helps to promote faster recovery and minimize post-operative scarring and inflammation. Most patients return to work within three days after breast augmentation and should be experiencing little or no pain by that time. Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire recommends waiting two weeks to resume light exercise and six weeks for weight-lifting or high-impact aerobic exercise such as running.

Breast augmentation is not the only option for enhancing the appearance of the breasts. Women who want to correct breast sagging or change the direction their breasts point may consider a breast lift, which can be performed as a solo procedure or in combination with augmentation. If you tend to be happier with the way your breasts look in a bra, then a breast lift may be a good option for you. This procedure restores the breasts to a more youthful position on the chest wall while removing loose skin that exacerbates the sagging effect.

Breast augmentation changes a woman's silhouette and can be a component in a larger group of procedures known as a "Mommy Makeover." Women that have been through pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding may be interested in pairing breast enhancement with an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, which is intended to flatten and tone a bulging, sagging belly. You may also consider liposuction as a single procedure or in conjunction with a Mommy Makeover to remove stubborn deposits of fat from various areas of the body that tend to linger after pregnancy.

Breast augmentation is primarily about addressing size, but that is not the only goal to be achieved during this surgery. Our team recognizes that a patient's desire is often not just to add volume but to enhance the body proportions with a natural look. Dr. Fisher and Dr. Ehanire's commitment is to not only creating fuller breasts but breasts that look beautiful—an approach we refer to as aesthetic breast augmentation.

RESTORE YOUR YOUTH WITH A BREAST LIFT

Aging, pregnancy, nursing and weight change can cause your breasts to sag and appear deflated over time. These developments can profoundly impact your appearance and your self-confidence, as well as the fit of your clothing. If you are trying to hide your breasts under baggy clothing or avoiding the beach or pool because of embarrassment over your upper body profile, surgery may be the right solution for you. A mastopexy or breast lift can reshape and restore volume to your breasts so you look and feel more youthful.

Dr. Ehanire loves the Breast Lift procedure and truly believes it to be life-changing due to the following issues it addresses,

  • Breasts that droop and sag, a problem known as ptosis
  • Breasts that have lost their youthful volume and adopted a deflated appearance, especially in the upper breast
  • Nipples that point downward or sit low on the breast beneath the breast crease
  • Areolas that have stretched and enlarged, creating a matronly appearance
  • Loose skin hanging from the sides of the breasts that exacerbates the sagging effect
  • One breast that hangs lower than the other
